The daily mail has called Chloe “the most famous American to undergo sex-transition surgery as a child and later regret it,” She told her parents at 12 she was a boy, received hormones and puberty blockers at 13, a Double Mastectomy at 15, then “detransed” by 16. Now 18, She has been on the right wing detransition circuit for over a year. Speaking at public hearings and anti-trans rallies, she seeks to take away from others the choice she was once given, and now regrets.
In speeches and interviews she often hits most of the conservative anti-trans tropes despite evidence they don’t apply in her case - “railroaded into medical treatment informed by an extremist ideology”, “mutilated before she could give informed consent”, or “her very life used as a tool to convince her parents to submit to gender affirming care”, etc, etc.
Chloe has recently sued her doctors for malpractice. And although I believe she is little more than a tool for the right anti-trans narrative, and remains one of the most bad faith representatives of de-transitioners - there is recent evidence her medical team was more ‘in the wrong’ than previously thought.
But first, reviewing Cloe’s statements:
1. Chloe declined medical advice, and sought out an endocrinologist that would prescribe her medications her first doctor would not. (The hormones she received are rarely given before several years of taking puberty blockers - she took blockers for only two months before starting Testosterone).
[TIMESTAMPED] “I thought that by starting cross-sex hormones my body would become more consistent with my real gender identity. The only person to question this other than my initially reluctant parents was an endocrinologist who refused to medicalize me because he was wary of how it could affect my brain development. He was the only doctor I saw who didn't immediately affirm my identity and choices and I wouldn't be your surprise if he eventually resigned or was fired for safeguarding younger patients.
My gender specialist expressed frustration and immediately referred me to another endocrinologist who was quick to give me consent forms for puberty blocking medication and injectable Testosterone. I remember her asking my 13 year old self -
“Are you aware you may experience atrophy of some reproductive organs?”
“Are you aware that this may affect your ability to have children in the future?”
It didn't matter what she told me. I did not have the mental faculties at 13 years old to be able to make an informed decision that would permanently impact My overall health and stun my development.“
Q? - Chloe says in this interview she was on puberty blockers for “about a year” ????
2. Chloe was the main driver in getting her double mastectomy. Not because of medical advice, but seemingly out of disgust of male attention (and likely some past trauma). Surgery for trans teens is extremely rare, it is not condoned, recommended or performed by any children’s hospital in the US (despite constant misinformation in conservative media stating otherwise). Despite the fact Chloe and her mother were undoubtedly pushing hard for the surgery - the apparent lack of acknowledgement of her body image and sexual trauma issues by her practitioners … remains concerning.
[TIMESTAMPED] At 15 when I sought to remove my breasts… and most importantly I wanted to avoid the sexual attention that came with having a visibly feminine chest I was groped at school in a classroom a place where I thought I would be safe that was the final straw I was afraid of being sexually assaulted
[TIMESTAMPED] And did not want to be a highly sexualized girl…
[FOXNEWS] The lawsuit states “concerns about being sexually abused or raped”
COLE LAWSUIT [FOX NEWS]
Concerning the lawsuit, The Economist stated “should detransitioning suits such as Cole's be successful, insurers could come to regard gender transition treatments as a liability, which would raise the treatment costs and make providers more careful about advertising; it added that, if the facts of the case were as claimed, it could give pro-transitioning activists cause for reflection on how care is currently provided.”
Plot thickens!
A second lawsuit against the same hospital. The extreme case of Chloe's blockers, hormones and surgery by 15 - apparently wasn't the most extreme case out of Kaiser Foundation Hospital. The now 18-year-old “referred to” as Layla Jane, says she should never have been put through the 'torment' of testosterone hormones at age 12 and puberty blockers and surgery the very next year.
According to the suit, doctors at the Permanente Medical Group and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals rushed her on to cross-sex hormones and a double mastectomy without properly assessing her mental health problems. Jane’s evaluations lasted only 30 minutes and 75 minutes, records show. Jane and Cloe are represented by the same lawyer, who is being paid for by ‘The Center for American Liberty’
The Center for American Liberty, their mission statement states: “The Center for American Liberty defends the Free Speech rights and Civil Liberties of Americans left behind by the Civil Rights establishment.” Some of their weird propaganda can be found on their IG.
